Over the last 10 months, the airline industry has been on a horrific roller coaster ride due the pandemic. Thousands of flights have been cancelled, refunded, and postponed while most nations around the globe have attempting to combat Covid-19. Airlines have been in crisis mode causing reductions in staff and record financial losses because of the massive reduction of flights worldwide.

Travelers, they too are trying to cope with the current circumstances of little to no travel for the last 10 months. It all started with Chinese officials indicating “patient zero “was a 55-year-old man from Hubei province. At present, there is still not a solid lead on the true identity of patient zero, however, based upon Chinese government analysis the first case of novel coronavirus emerged on November 17, 2019.

Since the beginning in early 2020 countries around the world have been on lock down, social distancing, and wearing masks to reduce the spread of the virus. Some countries have been hard hit by the virus, while others have little to no cases of the virus. According to the CDC, worldwide there are over 100 million cases with over 2 million deaths. The United States alone accounts for 25% of the cases and 21% of the overall deaths. Pfizer-BioNTech (95% effective in preventing infections with an unknown duration of protection) and Moderna (94.1% effective in preventing infection with a duration of an unknown number of years) have rolled-out vaccines to combat the spread of Covid-19. Both companies have indicated the vaccines should protect against the new Coronavirus variants from South Africa (B.1.351) and the United Kingdom (B.1.1.7).

Many people like myself have been working from home 100% since the spread of the virus. Although, people are trying to stay home and reduce their contact with the virus, many of us avid travelers are longing to travel to distance countries around the world. The sentiment I have been hearing and seeing online is many people are in a similar mind-set. The lack of travel has resulted in many people feeling bored, uninterested, and lacking motivation.  Some of us have been trying to get the stimulation we need by preparing for travel in the future, traveling locally, and working remotely in another country.

Working remotely is a great option for those who are working 100% from how and has the flexibility to be in another location (whether domestically or internationally). Many countries have been trying to entice people to work abroad by allowing for extended visas during the pandemic. Some countries who are on that list are:

  • Barbados                                                         Bermuda
  • Spain                                                                Dubai
  • Mexico                                                             Mauritius
  • Cayman Islands                                             Anguilla
  • Aruba                                                               Estonia
  • Jamaica                                                          Thailand
  • Antigua & Barbuda                                        Iceland
  • Portugal                                                          Croatia
  • Georgia

These are all beautiful countries and while residing there it may offer you the opportunity to explore all these locations have to offer. If you personally are taking advantage of working abroad during this time, please share your experience.
