T’was the Night Before Vacation

T’was the night before Vacation, when all thro’ airport security screening,

All the passengers where stirring, even the beastly being,

The baggage was packed by the curbside with care,

In hopes that a Skycap soon would be there;

The children we all geared up with iPhones and Tablets,

While visions of Epic game adventures danced in their heads,

And Mama in her yoga pants and I in my hoodie,

Had just settled down for a long evening flight,

When out of the aisle there arose such a chatter,

I sprang from my seat to see what was the matter,

Away to the overhead bin I flew like a flash,

Tore open the bin, and checked on my stash,

The flight attendants ushered everyone to their seats,

Given direction, in order to prepare the cabin for takeoff,

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

But the pre-flight safety demonstration in the front and the rear,

With the cabin door closed and the flight attendants working in accord,

I knew in a moment, the pilot would announce welcome aboard,

More rapid than eagles as passengers started walking about,

And a flight attendant call’d out, please return to your seats,

Now flight attendants and cabin crew prepare for gate departure,

Taxing out to the tarmac, to prepare for takeoff,

Now up, up, up we go for liftoff,

As we climbed towards cruising altitude,

We reached 31,000 feet,

So, the pilot removed the seat belt sign,

With the cabin abuzz,

And then overhead, we heard in a calm voice,

To return to your seat the ride is about to hit a bumpy patch,

As quickly it came it quickly turned around,

Down the aisle flight attendants came with abound,

They were dressed in uniform from head to foot,

And their makeup and hair so nicely put,

A cart full of food to satisfy your appetite,

And they quickly dispersed all the meals from left to right,

A wink of the eye and a twist of the head,

Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread,

They spoke few words, but went straight to work,

And collected the rubbish; then turned with a jerk,

And with an announcement to land, they gave a quick glance,

And with a nod, they preceded down the aisle prepare in advance,

They sprung from their seats to prepare for landing,

Away they all scattered, to open the door and begin deboarding,

But I heard them exclaim, while standing in sight,

Please take all your belongings, and I hope you enjoyed your flight
