What is over 2,716.5ft and considered the tallest structure and building in the world since 2008?

The Burj Khalifa is one of Dubai’s most recognized structures throughout the world. The tower of the Burj Khalifa was designed by Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill who also designed the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) in Chicago and the One World Trade Center in New York City.

This impressive building has over 160 stories and holds countless world records. The architectural style of the Burj Khalifa is considered neo-futurism and the structural system is made of reinforced concrete, steel, and aluminum. The Burj Khalifa is also referred to as the Burj Dubai, however, is named after Sheikh Khalifa and cost an estimated $1.5 billion US dollars.

The skyline of Dubai has changed immensely prior to the 1980s are Dubai has emerged as a major international tourist destination. Dubai is known for its remarkable architecture, world-class entertainment, and sporting events. Dubai has the world’s only hotel the beautiful Burj Al Arab Jumeriah hotel that boasts a seven star rating.

Dubai is a destination you will never find yourself unable to find something to do. Some of the sights you must see include: Dubai Mall, Dubai Museum, Bastakia (Old Dubai), Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House, Dubai Creek,  Jumeirah Mosque, Deira (home to traditional souks like Gold Souk, Spice Souk, etc.), Sheikh Zayed Road, Heritage and Diving Village, Dubai Aquarium, Dubai Fountain, Jumeriah Beach, Mall of Emirates, Dubai Opera, Kite Beach, Alserkal Art District, Dubai’s Palm Island, and much more!

With all the glitz and glamor Dubai has another side, which is Old Dubai where you will learn about the history, culture, tradition, and people before its rapid growth.  In Old Dubai there are many souks to visit, have a traditional Arabic lunch in an Arabic Tea House, and visit the coffee museum.  Try some of the local food like Shawarma, Hummus, a Camel burger, Arabian tea, Al Harees, and Al Machboos to name a few.

There are only two climates in Dubai hot and hotter, with August being the hottest month averaging a temperature of 105-degree fahrenheit. In the summer months Dubai experience a sandstorm as low pressure develops over Dubai and winds blow sand, which can cause low visibility. Even though Dubai can easily reach triple digits, you are able to go ice-skating and skiing.

With its official language being Arabic, Dubai is a great place to visit and experience two worlds within in one.
